Ingredients
For The Tomahawk
• 1 Tomahawk Steak
• Coarse Salt
• Freshly Ground Black Pepper
• Avocado Oil
For The Bourbon & Garlic Butter
• Unsalted Butter
• Roasted Garlic
• Fresh Rosemary
• Fresh Thyme
• Bourbon
Directions
Pat the Tomahawk steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Lightly coat it with avocado oil and generously season both sides with coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper.
To prepare the Bourbon & Garlic Butter, combine softened unsalted butter with roasted garlic, finely chopped rosemary, fresh thyme, and a splash of bourbon. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated and set aside.
Prepare your charcoal grill with two heat zones: one for indirect cooking and another for high-heat searing. Place the Tomahawk over indirect heat and allow it to cook slowly until the internal temperature approaches your preferred doneness.
Once the steak is nearly ready, position the fat edge directly over the hot charcoal to render and caramelize the fat. Then sear both sides over high heat until a rich, golden-brown crust develops.
Remove the Tomahawk from the grill and immediately add a generous portion of Bourbon & Garlic Butter, allowing it to melt naturally over the hot steak.
Let the meat rest for approximately 8–10 minutes before slicing it into thick, juicy portions. Finish with a sprinkle of coarse salt, freshly ground black pepper, and an additional touch of Bourbon & Garlic Butter.
Serve and enjoy a premium charcoal-grilled Tomahawk with a smoky crust, tender interior, and the rich flavors of roasted garlic, fresh herbs, and bourbon.
